Maternal love – #FolksyFriday – 24th March 2017

Maternal love folksyfriday

Mother’s Day , or Mothering Sunday, is the 26th of March this year. Mothers of any age around the country are getting shown the love that they deserve from their children (whether they are still children or grown up adults) by receiving breakfast in bed, flowers, chocolate and all manner of housework related surprises. With any luck the love will be expressed all through the year, not just on this specific day.

Love your mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers all year round.

#FolksyFriday – Rainbow – 3rd March 2017

I love bright colours and the rain, so of course I love the thing that combines them both – rainbows! They are also a great reminder of the fantastical nature of science, remember learning at school about the refraction of light?

#FolksyFriday – Spring is coming! – 17th February 2017

spring-folksyfriday

Spring is slowly creeping after winter outside at the moment. The weather may not be particularly warm but the gardens are starting to come alive once more. From my window I can see the purple crocuses in the lawn and the green shoots that herald the first signs of life from the daffodils. At night the foxes bark and screech on the roads, looking for a mate and owls hoot in the trees looking for the same.

Why not celebrate Spring with these spring themed items?

#FolksyFriday – Pink -10th February 2017

Pink FolksyFriday.jpg

In the 19th century pink was the colour of boys, as it was a lighter colour of men’s (army) uniforms which were red. It was in the early 1900 when the transition to it being considered a girl’s colour started. Now the colour is plastered everywhere on things are marketed towards women but all genders embrace the colour in one way or another.

Pink, along with red, is also considered a colour of love and passion, a perfect theme for #FolksyFriday as Valentines Day is only next Tuesday, only 4 days away!
